Sodexo Universities is looking for an Executive Chef 2 to join our team at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA.  Whitworth is a nationally ranked, private Christian liberal arts university located in beautiful Spokane, Washington with an enrollment of more than 3,000 students. Our Sodexo employees contribute to the Whitworth mission "to provide its diverse student body an education of mind and heart."

 

This position will be responsible for leading production in a fast-paced environment. The Executive Chef needs to be a talented culinarian with exceptional organizational and leadership skills. This individual will be expected to be on the floor during service times communicating with Whitworth students, faculty, and staff. This position will manage a large resident dining operation, a café, and two coffee shops. We also have a large café that is currently being built, expected to open in April 2021. The Executive Chef will be very hands on in the menu planning process, labor schedules, production, marketing plan, as well as so much more.  Typical schedule for the Chef will be Sunday through Thursday.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
