Sodexo is seeking a Senior Paralegal for Corporate Legal Department located in Gaithersburg, MD. The Senior Paralegal for the Commercial Litigation Team supports three commercial litigation attorneys and assists them with case management of all commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters.

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist attorneys with case management
  • Respond to subpoenas
  • Draft correspondence, litigation hold notices, routine pleadings, settlement agreements, and ad hoc reports
  • Identify, compile, and review relevant documents for discovery and other purposes
  • Assist with case investigation
  • Conduct factual and legal research
  • Documents and presents findings and opinions to attorneys
  • Assist in contract and other document review, including electronic review
  • Assist in witness interviews
  • Conduct e-discovery, document review, and document production
  • Assume primary responsibility for managing low exposure cases and bankruptcies
  • Prepare and file claims in small bankruptcy matters
  • Track distributions and monitor relevant pleadings
  • Under direction of an attorney, resolve routine legal issues
  • Maintain case management database
  • Update and coordinate quarterly case reports
  • Organize electronic files of important case documents

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Commercial or business/contract litigation experience
  • Prepared and implement litigation holds
  • Communicated with clients (verbally and in writing); communicate with external/local/opposing counsel, the Courts, etc.
  • Drafted pleadings and litigation-settlement agreements
  • E-filing (i.e. pleadings with the Court)
  • Reviewing and produce documents (in response to subpoenas or discovery requests);
  • E-discovery (or electronic document review and production);
  • Familiar with Pacer (Federal Court-filing database);

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years
