Unit Description

Sodexo Corporate Services is growing! We are seeking an experienced Special Event Planner to plan & detail events for our venue in Washington, DC. This venue is a historic downtown Washington, DC location with a long term Client at a Food account with Catering at the focus that also supports two on-site Cafe's. 

 

Key Responsibility:

  • Oversee catered events range from 10 - 600 people with a variety of setup and menu configurations that are constantly evolving
  • Food knowledge, event experience, team leadership and a commitment to excellence in customer service

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and will have:

  • A sharp eye for attention to detail
  • Excellent event planning skills, and is visionary in regards to presentations and creativity
  • Creating BEO’s, invoices, menu/bar signage & room diagrams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of catering and catering logistics
  • Creating orders and invoices
  • Menu/bar signage, room diagrams
  • Meeting with clients, menu and beverage selections
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Experience creating floor plans/diagrams, assisting with inquiries
  • An expert in client/guest relations- this position will have direct client contact
  • Excellent event planning skills, and is visionary in regards to presentations and creativity
  • Other duties include, but are not limited to: internal billing, creating floor plans, assisting with inquiries

Position Summary

Oversees the planning and execution of logistics for meetings and special events. Manages facility selection, contract negotiations, food and beverage selections, and arrangements for audio/visual service, transportation, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year of experience in event planning
