Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a full time Registered Dietitian for Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center is a 350 bed teaching hospital in Baltimore, MD with specialties in oncology, medical-surgical, stroke, bariatric, level III NICU. The Registered Dietitian will cover medical-surgical units with the opportunity to cross cover a variety of specialized patient units.  Franklin Square Medical Center is part of MedStar Health, the largest healthcare provider in Maryland and the Washington, D.C. region.


Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, this RD will:

  • provide nutritional care for a variety of inpatient units
  • provide exemplary nutrition services and care to patients, staff and community
  • perform quality improvement projects, i.e. patient satisfaction rounds, monthly test trays, and meal accuracies 

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • a Registered Dietitian and have MD state licensure or be in the process of obtaining state licensure
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • a self-starter, a team player, and possess good time management skills
  • able to work well with physicians, nursing and ancillary staff

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services
Key Duties
-Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.
-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
-Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience -  Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
