Sodexo is currently seeking Food Operations Manager/Registered Dietitian, to join our food services healthcare team at Stanford Hospital, in Palo Alto, California. The Food Operations Manager/Registered Dietitian is a high level, strategic management position that will report directly to the Sr. Area General Manager and will be responsible for day to day oversight of patient food service satisfaction, operational effectiveness and project management at this unit.


Additional Job Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees the Room Service program at Stanford Hospital, and will oversee additional patient food service production operations for Sodexo.
  • Conducts patient rounding and works with hospital dieticians on patient nutritional needs.
  • Responsible for identifying process improvement initiatives and overseeing the implementation.
  • Oversees 80 employees, including managers and supervisors.
  • Ensures that employees demonstrate an active customer hospitality orientation towards both clients and customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of meals, nourishments, and snacks to patients.
  • Acts as the liaison between the dietitians, nursing managers and the unit.
  • Integrate fully within our client’s organization by becoming a trusted advisor with a customer service focus and project management drive.
  • Works to achieve company and client financial targets and goals.
  • Responsible for driving patient satisfaction results.
  • Regularly analyzes patient satisfaction data, financial results, and implements additional measurements and action plans in these areas to achieve optimal unit performance.
  • Updates financial reporting as well as project reporting on a regular basis.
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards.
  • Must meets (or exceed) Sodexo standards of operations.
  • Creates a positive environment and successfully motivates and manages team.

  • Background with Registered Dietitian, Certified Dietary Managers or have a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a similar B.S. degree.
  • Strong financial, quantitative and qualitative analysis skillset.
  • Experience in operational management and process improvement.
  • Experience in food service environment, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience and high level leadership experience.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong nutritional background.
  • A passion for a high level of customer service and innovation.
  • Excellent computer skills and report management experience, preferably project management experience.
  • Strong attention to company policy, standards, and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in compliance to food safety (HACCP), sanitation and overall workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while fostering strong client and customer relationships.
  • Able to manage and execute multiple priorities, and manage multiple long-standing projects.

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment

- Assumes General Manager’s (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree 

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
