  • Unit Description

    Sodexo is seeking a Part-Time Registered Dietitian to come join their dynamic team at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital in Los Angeles,CA.  MLKCH is a 131 bed acute care facility, a beautiful new stand-alone hospital.

     

    Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the ideal candidate will have:

     

    • Have at least 1 year prior experience in an acute care setting and be flexible and willing to work in all areas of the hospital for a scheduled 24 hours per week -typical schedule will cover 3 days per week with the opportunity to gain additional hours as needed   
    • Provide inpatient cross coverage with some high acuity population and includes some rotating holidays
    • Prior experience with utilizing the nutrition care process and electronic health records charting (Previous Cerner and Room Service experience helpful)
    • A comfort level with NFPE
    • Be able to work well with physicians, nursing, ancillary staff; to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently and be outcome focused
    • Round with medical and other health care staff on patient care units
    • Be responsible for conducting nutrition care, educations, and patient assessments to the patient population with a variety of disease states
    • a potential for additional projects as needed 
    • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills;
    • Have good time management skills and be a self-starter 
    • The potential opportunity to participate in Performance Improvement projects, participate in patient satisfaction, employee training, and precepting interns
    • Spanish skills a plus

     

    Position Summary

    Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services
    Key Duties
    -Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
    -Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
    -Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
    -Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.
    -Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
    -Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

    Basic Functional Experience -  Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
