  • Unit Description

    Sodexo Schools Division is seeking an experienced Executive Chef 2 a  K12 Public School system located in Central NJ. 16 Schools (12 Elementary, 2 Middle, 2 HS). Union Account. Operations Manager and General Manager at account. Travel around district to oversee schools using own vehicle. The Executive Chef will also do display cooking rotating to different locations daily.  Medium level catering. Some nights/weekends throughout the school year.

     

    Supporting the General Manager to assist with the training and development of staff across the district.  This position will be responsible for catering within the district, delivery production to 16 sites, recipe compliance, reheating techniques, flavor and ordering. 

      

    Our ideal candidate will be a focused and passionate food service leader with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic and ever changing environment. The demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team and pro-actively communicate will be required. Strong organizational and culinary experience is highly desirable. National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a plus.

    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
    Key Duties
    - Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
    - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
    - Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
    - Manages catering & retail areas.
    - Customer & Client satisfaction.
    - Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
    -  Manages food & physical safety programs.

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
    Basic Management Experience - 2 years
    Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
