    Sodexo currently has a job opportunity for a General Manager 5 of Food Services to join our healthcare team at City of Hope an outstanding Cancer Center in the Los Angeles, California region. This position will report directly to the District Manager, and will be responsible for day to day oversight of all operations for the multi-million dollar food and nutrition services at this hospital. Sodexo provides best in class services for patient dinning, and onsite catering at this outstanding account.


    General Manager Job Responsibilities include:

    • Oversees all day to day patient food and nutrition services, 4 separate retail food operations and VIP catering at this unit.
    • Integrates fully within our client’s organization, becoming a trusted advisor.
    • Works closely with management and provide direction and implement Sodexo systems.
    • Responsible for over $7 million in managed volume on an annual basis.
    • Ensures that financial targets are achieved, all regulatory standards as well as all Sodexo Operating Standards are in place.
    • Responsible for overseeing safety and sanitation audits and regulatory compliance for all locations.
    • Meets (or exceed) Sodexo standards of operations.
    • Creates a positive environment for the region
    • Works to achieve continuous improvement in patient satisfaction scores.
    • Successfully motivates and manages team in a fast paced environment. 


    If you have the following skillsets, then we would love to hear from you:

    • Candidates for this General Manager position should be Registered Dietitians, Certified Dietary Managers or have a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a similar B.S. degree.
    • Strong overall operational understanding and experience of food service in a healthcare or retail setting.
    • Experience running healthcare room service food programs.
    • Previous management and leadership experience.
    • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
    • A passion for a high level of customer service.
    • Experience in developing strong customer relationships.
    • Excellent computer skills and report management experience.
    • Strong attention to company policy, standards, and regulations.
    • Ability to multitask and proven effectiveness in a high volume, fast paced healthcare environment.
    • Strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory and labor management concepts.
    • Knowledgeable in compliance to food safety (HACCP), sanitation and overall workplace safety standards.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while fostering strong client and customer relationships.
    • Able to manage and execute multiple priorities, and manage multiple long-standing projects.

    Position Summary

    Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.
    Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree
