  • Unit Description

    Sodexo is seeking a Registered Dietitian to come join their dynamic team at Norwegian American Hospital, a ~200 bed hospital in the Humbolt Park neighborhood of Chicago.

     

    Position will report to General Manager and ideal candidate will:

    • Have a strong commitment to serving the community both inpatient and outpatient. Our vision here is to be the Provider of Choice for Health Services for Our Community.
    • Position will require approximately 60% of the time in Patient Services area and will work every 3rd weekend
    • Be directly responsible for Clinical Nutrition operations, (i.e. oversight of registered dietitians, clinical policies/procedures/compliance, quality improvement projects)
    • Patient foodservice operations (i.e. diet office, tray line, room service systems)
    • Outpatient operations (i.e. nutrition and diabetes education program, Sodexo MNT)
    • Work closely with retail food service and food production managers and assist with catering as needed
    • Lead the department in monitoring patient satisfaction indicators (i.e. tray audits & assessments) and the posting of results
    • Work closely with nursing and other departments within the hospital
    • Provide vacation relief for the clinical dietitians as needed
    • Work ~ every third weekend to assist in overseeing food and nutrition department and clinical staff- will be responsible in assisting with cash handling 
    • Position requires a Registered Dietitian, licensed to practice in Illinois                                              

    Position Summary

    Functions as the in-unit lead Clinical leader for a medium to large account or multiple accounts under one contract in a system. Manages the daily operations of nutrition services through direct supervision of both non-exempt employees and entry-level exempt professional employees.

    Key Duties
    -Directs daily operations of nutrition programs and ensure customer and client satisfaction levels are met.
    -May provide direct nutrition care to population served
    -Establishes and executes operating standards, implements quality improvements, manages the budget and communicates them to other departments.
    -Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction for nutrition services.
    -Promotes nutrition services and stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
    -Manages employees to ensure they meet goals, cost controls deadlines, and collect outcomes.
    -Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel).
    -Assists in the development of new business service(s) for the client, regional or national initiatives, projects, and implements the service program(s).

     

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

    Basic Management Experience - 1 year

    Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
