Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 2 for SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis located in Richmond Heights, MO. St. Mary's is a 375 census full-service hospital that provides a wide variety of services with exceptional care. They are two-time winners of the Premier Award for Quality and primary location for St. Louis University School of Medicine's Dept of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Practice Residency programs. The Executive Chef will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, directing all patient feeding, retail and catering, and managing a frontline staff of 20.

The successful candidate will:

  • implement and standardize all culinary systems and procedures for hospital;
  • lead and mentor frontline staff and supervisors; 
  • focus on employee engagement;
  • implement and standardize new menus;
  • be responsible for ensuring Food and Physical Safety and annual training for all hourly associates;
  • be responsible for procurement, purchasing and financial audits;
  • improve and standardize catering services and create menus based on client needs;
  • implement innovative and fresh ideas in retail, catering and patient services; and/or
  • create interpersonal relationships with clients in hospital.

  • strong management skills;
  • previous experience working in a high-volume kitchen;
  • experience leading and engaging a culinary team;
  • menu planning experience and a strong understanding of current culinary trends;
  • proven to effectively communicate to multiple audiences and develop strong relationships with customers;
  • the ability to multitask and proven effectiveness in a high-standards driven environment;
  • a strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory and labor management concepts;
  • creative and effective problem-solving and project management skills;
  • proficient computer skills as well as exceptional organizational and customer services skills;
  • Servsafe certified; 
  • working knowledge of HACCP

Position Summary

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
