    Sodexo Leisure has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Chef 1 at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, IL. This Executive Chef 1 will support and report to our Executive Chef 3. If you share the Chicago Botanic Garden’s mission to promote the enjoyment, understanding, and conservation of plants and the natural world and Sodexo’s mission of providing an exceptional customer experience, then this is the right position for you. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • supporting all high-end catering operations to include weddings, Board of Director events, Executive Team events, VIP Corporate and other social events;
    • managing daily culinary production for an esteemed, busy quick service Retail Café along with multiple, diverse venues & catering; and/or
    • hands on within the operations while training, developing of hourly employee, and scheduling

    ** $2,500 Sign On Bonus ** 

    This is a 7 day a week venue therefore this role may require weekends & evenings availability.

     

    You are/have:

    • high-end, sophisticated, high-volume catering and retail experience with an emphasis on sustainable practices and local sourcing of food;
    • a solid background with training and developing a culinary staff, focusing on food safety;
    • proven ability to support a culinary operation of a Multi-Million venue similar to a museum, zoo or other cultural destination setting;
    • assisting with the development of menus and overseeing operational standards for retail and catering operations;
    • experience with locally sourced, organic and sustainable practices is a plus;
    • ensuring compliance to food safety, HACCP, sanitation and workplace safety standards; and/or
    • excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are key to success in this role

    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution
    Key Duties

    -Manages food & physical safety program.

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
    Basic Management Experience - 2 years
    Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
