    Sodexo has an opportunity for an Executive Chef 1 at University of Minnesota-Morris located in Morris, MN - a student centric public university approx 2 1/2 hours from Minneapolis. The University of Minnesota-Morris is one of four campuses within the University of Minnesota, a four year liberal arts college. It is located 3 hours from Sioux Falls, SD, 3 hours from Minneapolis/St Paul, and 2 hours from Fargo, ND.  Food operations at this location include Resident Dining, Retail Dining, a C-store and Catering. This campus has a very high emphasis on sustainability, local sourcing and renewable energy sources. As such, part of the campus mission is "Educating for a sustainable future". 


    The Executive Chef will be responsible for serving over 1,000 meals a day to the students on campus, and being out on the floor interacting with the students in the resident dining and retail operations.  Reporting to the GM, the Executive Chef will oversee 20+ union associates.  Successful candidate needs to have a strong focus and passion for serving our customers - enjoy talking with customers, students, clients and staff.




    Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal candidate should have:

    • Perfer 3+ years running a high volume kitchen, preferably within a union, campus setting;
    • High expectations for customer service and quality of food;
    • Strong understanding of financials as they apply to cost controls of food and labor;
    • Strong food safety and sanitation/HACCP standards;
    • Ability and willingness to develop and train up to 50 frontline employees;
    • Passion for creating outstanding customer service;
    • Ability to think outside of the box;

    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution
    Key Duties
    -Executes the culinary function
    -Customer & Client satisfaction
    -Manages food & physical safety program.


    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
    Basic Management Experience - 2 years
    Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
