    Vice President Finance – Government North America – Gaithersburg, MD

     

    Sodexo Government is seeking a qualified leader for the Vice President, Finance for our prestigious business portfolio as a Federal Contractor for Sodexo. The business portfolio generates over $425M in Revenue and consists of our star status client portfolio includes the U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, intelligence business and Federal Government locations throughout the United States and Guam.  

     

    This position will report directly to the CEO for Government and work within a matrixed reporting relationship with our Global Financial Leader for the business segment and the CFO for North America.   The position is located in Gaithersburg, MD and have 6 direct reports located throughout the region – successful candidate will have proven success in commercial finance, strategic leadership and management and development of a virtual team of professionals.

    This position is a Member of region segment executive team, global segment finance leadership team, and regional finance leadership community

     

    SCOPE: This critical role will work as a business partner to the CEO and the region segment leadership team.  The position is expected to support, inform, and influence the creation, implementation and realization of the segment business growth strategy. 

     

    As part of the Government and NorAM regional financial leadership team, the role will contribute to finance and commercial best practice, activity and team development across the segment and region.

     

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate and partner with the business to jointly agree financial targets, deliver successful sales development, contract mobilization, commercial contract management including the resolution of commercial issues and overall strong performance through the contract life-cycle. 

     

    Supporting the business in realizing these through reliable financial forecasts, insightful analytics, great financial modelling, innovative and sound commercial / financial solutions and contract design, and accurate accounting with both the Federal Government and Sodexo’s group financial policies and process.

     

    Competencies:

    • Strong financial acumen, including operational and financial planning as well as contractual/risk management discipline.
    • Knowledge of US public law and Federal government contracting regulations in North America is an advantage
    • Strong commercial acumen, with ability to translate strategy and operational ideas/plans into financial plans, targets, and sensitivities.
    • Process and progress driven, based on factual analytics, combined with very transparent skills
    • Pro-activity and reactivity, combined with a strong sense of constructive challenge, thereby assisting commercial and operational teams in building solutions

    Experience & Knowledge

    • Qualified accounting with at least 10 years of experience
    • Experience working in large complex matrix organizations
    • Experience in U.S. Government and Federal Contracting/pricing regulations – Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
    • Proven track record and demonstrated skills in delivering successful results & finding pragmatic solutions in complex commercial situations
    • Strong financial and commercial accounting
    • Global mindset, international experience and/or exposure is an advantage
    • Advance knowledge of business development processes, deal structure, pricing & validation

    Position Summary

    Responsible for the financial leadership of a segment in a region, driving the performance of the Finance function to support delivery of the segment goal and ambitions, with the support of the transversal Finance function.  


    Purpose of the Job and characteristics
    ● Enabling segment performance at regional level through financial leadership and partnership for business support
    ● Contributing to segment-wide financial leadership and driving the performance of the Finance function to support delivery of the segment goal and ambitions
    ● Contributing to delivery and achievement of the Regional Segment’s strategic objectives, priorities and financial targets

    ● Aligning segment and finance strategic priorities at regional level, ensuring the needs of the segment are met by Transversal Finance in the region and countries; ensuring full alignment with Group Finance policies, processes and procedures

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

    Basic Management Experience - 10 years

    Basic Functional Experience - 10 years in accounting or finance
