    Sodexo currently has an opportunity for an Executive Chef 3 to join our team at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. This person will be responsible for the management of  Sodexo's patient meal delivery systems At Your Request and Expressly for You - (AYR and EFY).


    This 749-bed acute care hospital provides the highest level of medical and surgical care using the latest technologies, and has been named the “most preferred healthcare provider” in the region! Rotating weekends.  Hands on catering.


    Qualified candidates must have a strong background in kitchen operations, systems, process improvement, human resource management, organizational skills, a strong knowledge in food safety and sanitation are just a few of the qualities that candidates should possess. Position will manage up to 28 employees and be responsible for caterings and patient feeding operations. Prior experience in a management role with either in-house or nationally branded food retail concepts from chain restaurant retail, college/university retail or other high volume food retail environment.


    The Executive Chef 3 will oversee the day-to-day operations of the cafeteria. We are seeking a high energetic manager to guide staff, respond to customer needs and excel in a fast-paced environment.

    • manage the daily food production including production planning and controls;
    • ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance, consistency and high food quality;
    • manage food costing, controls and compliance;
    • develop menus and manage inventory;
    • have high expectations for customer service and quality of food;
    • have the ability and willingness to develop and train and engage with frontline employees;
    • have a passion for food and innovation;
    • have knowledge of special diets and allergens; and
    • knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) is preferred.


    The ideal candidate has:

    • a strong culinary background, with the demonstrated ability to stay current with new culinary trends;
    • excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implements company policies;
    • previous experience working in a high volume facility; and
    • strong management skills.

    Position Summary

    Provides culinary leadership within a large sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
    Key Duties
    - Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
    - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
    - Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
    - Manages catering & retail areas.
    - Customer & Client satisfaction.
    - Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
    - Manages food & physical safety programs.


    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree 

    Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

    Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
