Sodexo is seeking a Director 3- Facilities Operations for our next-generation acute care community hospital, leading the way in advanced medicine, located in Chula Vista, CA, a location which offers an abundance of cultural and outdoor activities, excellent school systems, and a great quality of life. This position requires a strategic leader, knowledge of managing and building client relationships, and proven experience developing, analyzing, reporting data, and a solid leadership experience in total facilities services.

 

This Director of Facilities Operations will oversee Life Safety Compliance for the health system, participate in permitting, ILSM, vendor management, and training. Participate as key member of facilities management team and client leadership. Highly customer interactive position. This position will maintain continuous survey readiness through compliance with regulations from a number of regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission (TJC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Dept. of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Will maintain regulatory readiness documentation, ensuring the system is in compliance with regulatory standards and the team is trained and ready for regulatory inspections.

Overall, the successful candidate: 

  • Plans, improves, and maintains owned and leased facilities and equipment.
  • Provides strategic leadership and vision for departments.
  • Provides support in the design, review, and specifications of construction and remodel projects with architects and administration. Monitors day to day activities and work on Engineering, Plant Operations, Aesthetics, and Grounds. Provides oversight as needed for contractors.
  • Negotiates project and service contracts.  Manages activities concerning technical development and scheduling.  Establishes and manages budgets and productivity targets. Controls expenditures within the limitations of the project and department budgets.
  • Ensures maintenance of physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utility systems, and grounds are in operative and safe working condition at all times.  Responsible for constant state of readiness to comply with Joint Commission EOC, Life Safety, and Emergency Preparedness survey inspections, preparation and document requirements.
  • Ensures that the health system is in compliance with all local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Assists in gathering information and assembling files for State Health Inspections.

 

Preferred for Director 3 candidates:

  • Supervisor/Managerial Experience; 3 to 5 years as a Plant Operations Director in an Acute Care Hospital setting.
  • Supervisor/Managerial Experience; Managing engineers in a union environment, preferably in a large shop (40 plus staff) in an Acute Care Hospital setting.
  • Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) Required or highly recommended!
  • Stationary Engineering License Preferred.
