Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Manager 3 - Food to join our team at the University Hospital of Brooklyn-SUNY, a 350-bed acute care hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

 

The Retail Manager 3-Food will oversee the daily operations of our food services, ensuring high standards of quality, service, and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the hospital’s retail food services, including cafeterias and coffee shops.
  • Oversee approximately 25 union Sodexo staff, ensuring effective team management and compliance with union agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration and other departments to align food services with the hospital’s goals and objectives.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail food management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience managing union staff is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outgoing personality with strong people skills, essential for managing union environments.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle high-volume food retail management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience – 1 year of work experience in concessions, retail sales, or store operations
