Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Food Operations Manager to join our team at the University Hospital of Brooklyn-SUNY, a 350-bed acute care hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

 

The Retail Food Operations Manager will function as the director of all retail operations for the unit, oversee the daily operations of our food services, ensuring high standards of quality, service, and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the hospital’s retail food services, including cafeterias and coffee shops (may be responsible for overseeing more than one specific operation within the unit).
  • Oversee approximately 75 union Sodexo staff, ensuring effective team management and compliance with union agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration and other departments to align food services with the hospital’s goals and objectives.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-volume retail operations management.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with union employees and manage union staff effectively.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle high-volume food retail management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
