Sodexo is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join our clinical team in a part time (24-32 hours/week) outpatient endocrinology/diabetes educator position at Mount Sinai South Nassau located in Oceanside, NY. This 429-bed, Level 2 Trauma Center is an award-winning teaching hospital serving as the Long Island flagship hospital for the entire Mount Sinai system. This position will also provide inpatient clinical care to and support the hospital-wide malnutrition identification initiative.  This is a great opportunity for a passionate diabetes educator who wants to remain connected to the acute care population. No weekends!

What You'll Do

  • provide exceptional nutrition care to patients with diabetes in the outpatient setting;
  • support the inpatient team, providing inpatient acute care coverage in the level 2 trauma setting;
  • serve as an active member of the multidisciplinary care team, with involvement in group education classes/support groups, committees and/or community outreach events as needed;
  • participate in performance improvement and/or outcome measurement initiatives;
  • be knowledgeable of the Nutrition Care Process; and
  • efficiently and effectively organize clinical nutrition and patient care responsibilities.

What You Bring

  • Registered Dietitian credentials and CDN in New York;
  • two or more years of clinical experience;
  • CDCES credential required;
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing needs;
  • a history of working independently with little direction and with a positive outlook; and
  • a commitment to continued education in the nutrition field.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement:

Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) 

For those eligible for the registration exam prior to 1/1/24:

Bachelor's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) 

 

Credentials Requirement:

Meets eligibility requirements for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and will become registered within 120 days of hire.  In some states and/or facilities the RD/RDN credentials is required at the time of hire
Certification/licensure as required by state(s) of practice. In some states and/or facilities state certification/licensure is required at the time of hire

 

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years experienced practitioner able to work with minimal supervision
