Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 3 for Yale New Haven Hospital-York St. in New Haven, CT

 

Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is a 1,541-bed facility and the second-largest hospital in the United States. It serves as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine and the Yale School of Nursing.

 

The Food Operations Manager 3 reports to the Executive Chef 4, manages a team of approximately 30 staff, and oversees the daily operations of the New Haven Cafe retail space within the YNHH clinical building. This location features a Peet’s Coffee station and a dining area offering grab-and-go options, pizza, deli, self-service salad, and rotating entrée selections.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary and retail foodservice operation in a hospital setting, with a focus on high-level customer service and team leadership in a union environment. This position is responsible for ensuring seamless daily operations, optimizing efficiency, and enhancing the overall dining experience for customers.

What You'll Do

  • Manage daily foodservice operations, ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Oversee labor management, scheduling, and payroll through Kronos.

  • Handle cash management, ensuring proper handling, reconciliation, and accountability.

  • Monitor inventory, waste management, and cost control measures to drive financial performance.

  • Implement and maintain food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with Sodexo and regulatory guidelines.

  • Engage with customers to gather feedback and enhance service offerings.

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to align foodservice operations with institutional goals.

What You Bring

  • Previous experience in foodservice operations management, preferably in a healthcare or retail food environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate and develop teams.

  • Experience with labor management systems such as Kronos.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 3 years   

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
