Sodexo is seeking a Catering Director (CateringManager 4) for South Dakota State University located in Brookings, South Dakota. Sodexo manages the catering for the entire campus which caters to a wide variety of events, from on-campus meetings, graduations, weddings, VIP events, and much more. The Catering Director will have a strong focus on growth, building a strong relationship with current and potential clients, and overseeing execution of all campus events.

What You'll Do


The successful candidate will:

  • coordinate all catering initiatives to drive sales growth and track results;
  • demonstrate resourcefulness and quick responsiveness to client and customer requests;
  • identify customer needs and expectations;
  • coordinate all catering activities, use of BEOs, delegate tasks/coverage, etc.;
  • educate and develop rapport with clients and promote partnerships; 
  • promote a customer/client centered culture that strives to exceed customer and client needs;
  • maintain and improve service level resulting in increased customer satisfaction; and
  • ensure that Sodexo and customer goals are aligned and met.

What You Bring

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who have: 

  • 3 - 5 years experience as a Catering Manager or Banquet Manager in a high volume environment - college campus, conference centers, banquet venues.
  • the ability to handle catering at all levels from students to executives;
  • solid organizational skills;
  • excellent leadership/team building skills;
  • professional demeanor is required
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 3 years   

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in catering, food production, or food service management or a related field
