Sodexo Campus Segment is seeking a talented Executive Chef II to lead culinary operations at a unionized account located in Long Island, NY. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on culinary leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced campus dining environment.
The ideal candidate is a passionate, team-focused chef with strong culinary technique, financial acumen, and a proven track record in resident dining, catering, and retail food operations. University experience is necessary to understand the unique needs of a campus setting and student dining.
This role provides culinary leadership within a medium-sized unit, including menu planning, program execution, and staff training. The Executive Chef works directly with internal and external clients, managing the full catering process from planning through execution.
Implement and coordinate all aspects of the culinary function
Oversee food production, ensuring preparation and execution meets operational and quality standards
Lead, train, and manage kitchen staff including cooks and utility workers
Manage catering operations and retail dining services
Collaborate with clients and internal partners to plan and execute catered events
Ensure customer and client satisfaction through exceptional service and food quality
Maintain strong financial controls including food and labor cost management
Uphold all food safety and physical safety protocols, including HACCP standards

University or campus dining experience is required
Prior experience as an Executive Chef or high-level Sous Chef, preferably in a campus or large institutional setting
Strong background in catering, retail, and residential dining
Excellent team-building and leadership skills, with experience in union environments
Solid financial management abilities
Proficiency in food safety practices and systems

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
