Sodexo is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Retail/Catering Operations Manager for The University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) located in Birmingham, Al. UAB is an urban college campus that cares about its students, faculty, and community. UAB is an internationally renowned and the first Health Promoting University in the United States.  UAB has an enrollment of over 20,000 students, gaining education and personal development. Our campus dining program includes multiple retail outlets, high-end catering, and residential dining.  UAB has an ambitious client with incredible vision, engagement, innovation, and creativity.

 

Reporting to the Resident District Manager, the Retail/Catering Operations Manager will be involved in all day-to-day operations. In this role, you will lead and elevate the performance of our catering/retail operations. This individual will play a critical role in shaping customer experience, optimizing daily operations, and driving financial performance across our catering/retail locations. As a strategic leader and hands-on operator, the ideal candidate will bring a blend of operational excellence, team development, and innovation to a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You’ll also have a comfort with technology and an eagerness to adopt new tools and programs to enhance the retail dining experience.

What You'll Do

  • Promote and ensure a zero-harm mindset—prioritizing the safety of our teams, guests, and food.
  • Oversee daily operations across retail dining locations, including branded concepts, and Catering operations.
  • Drive exceptional food quality and customer service across all units.
  • Uphold Sodexo’s financial control protocols.
  • Deliver and maintain high client satisfaction through strong service execution and team leadership.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support front-line staff, supervisors, and (6) managers in daily activities.
  • Implement and maintain HACCP safety programs, Sodexo initiatives, and operational standards.
  • Lead training efforts related to opening/closing procedures, compliance, and team development.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 3 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in retail operations
