Sodexo’s Campus Segment is seeking a Food Service Manager 3 for the University of New Haven in New Haven, CT. In this role, you’ll lead a dedicated dining services team and help shape a vibrant, student-centered culinary experience. Today’s students demand healthier choices, flexible options, and top-tier service—and Sodexo delivers on all fronts. As the leading campus dining provider in the U.S., we proudly serve over 600 colleges and universities nationwide.

 

This position offers a Sunday–Thursday schedule with some flexibility based on business needs.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the daily operations of residential and/or retail dining venues, ensuring quality food production, safety, and service standards.

  • Manage and develop frontline staff, including union employees, to ensure a positive team culture and consistent performance.

  • Control food and labor costs through effective scheduling, production planning, and inventory management.

  • Partner with culinary and administrative teams to support high-profile campus events and ensure smooth coordination.

  • Drive student satisfaction by responding to feedback, resolving issues, and maintaining strong campus relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety programs.

What You Bring

  • Experience managing high-volume dining operations in a college/university or contract food service setting.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience training and supervising hourly employees; union experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of food production, basic culinary operations, and service execution.

  • Familiarity with food and labor management systems (e.g., UFS, Kronos, Catertrax).

  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and build positive client relationships.

  • A collaborative mindset and the flexibility to adapt in a dynamic campus environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
