Role Overview

Sodexo has an opening for a Manager, Food Safety to join our team. This position ensures corporate and regulatory compliance for the company's quality assurance and food safety initiatives by proactively providing technical expertise, training, and operational support across business segments. This role leads incident response efforts, supports third-party food safety audit programs, and ensures successful onboarding of new units and operational leaders.

This is a remote position, requiring 50%-80% travel. Candidates should reside in St. Louis, San Antonio, Houston or Austin.

What You'll Do

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Provides on-site food safety support to ensure consistent implementation of the Food Safety Management System across locations
  • Follow up and support locations that receive non-compliant third-party audit results; assist with corrective action planning and resolution.
  • Investigate food safety complaints and incidents within assigned region, support site management with root cause analysis and preventative strategies.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and follow-up on failed regulatory inspections.
  • Calibrate and provide feedback to third-party auditors to ensure alignment with company standards.
  • Contribute to the development, writing, and implementation of food safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Deliver presentations and training sessions on food safety topics to internal stakeholders.
  • Support food safety planning for new unit openings and all food safety controls are in place prior to launch.

What You Bring

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a food safety, public health, or regulatory compliance role.
  • Certified Professional – Food Safety (CP-FS) and/or Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification. HACCP and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certifications preferred.
  • Experience in retail food service environments.
  • Experience working with third-party food safety audit programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local food safety regulations and compliance requirements (FDA, USDA, local health codes).
  • Expertise in foodborne pathogens and microbial control, including knowledge of pathogenic bacteria, indicator organisms, and preventive strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles, implementation, and verification.
  • Strong auditing skills, including the ability to assess operations, document findings, and develop practical corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and audit/tracking systems.
