Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking an Operations Support Specialist to support a life science client located in San Diego, California. This role is responsible for coordinating a variety of essential facility services, including janitorial, shipping and receiving, hazmat and waste management, catering setup and breakdown, and mailroom operations. The ideal candidate will manage communications, assign work orders, oversee inventory, supervise daily activities, and lead safety initiatives to ensure smooth and efficient operations. What You'll Do

  • Supervise daily operations by delegating tasks, setting priorities, and ensuring adherence to established performance and quality standards.
  • Support all areas of the operation including janitorial, shipping and receiving, waste management, mailroom operations and conference set up and breakdown
  • Manage incoming phone calls and monitor the central email inbox to ensure timely and effective communication.
  • Assign and track service requests using the Maximo CMMS system, coordinating multiple service lines for efficient work order management.

  • Ensure operational readiness by managing inventory and supply orders

  • Promote a culture of safety by conducting regular safety audits and inspections, delivering safety training, and maintaining continuous communication with staff regarding best practices and compliance.

What You Bring

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in facilities management, operations, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple service areas, including janitorial, hazmat, shipping and receiving, waste management, catering logistics, and mailroom functions.

  • Experience managing work orders through a CMMS platform such as Maximo, ensuring timely assignment and resolution.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain accurate records.

  • Demonstrated leadership in supervising day-to-day operations, setting priorities, and ensuring team accountability.

  • Commitment to workplace safety through regular audits, training, and proactive communication with staff.
