Role Overview

Creating solutions for everything from dining and nutrition to facilities maintenance and rehabilitative services, Sodexo partners with government agencies and military organizations to improve people’s quality of life and make a positive impact.

 

Sodexo Government is seeking a qualified leader for the Vice President, Operations for our prestigious client, the U.S. Marine Corps, on the West Coast, (Oceanside CA is the office location).   This position will have responsibilities and oversite for the operational portfolio of $125 Million in Revenue, contract management and client relations with both the local command and with the USMC leadership.

 

The qualified candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in food service operations and production – food cost, plate cost, labor management, and a high level of expectations related to quality assurance and contract deliverables.  

 

 West Coast Operations portfolio:

  • 20 Mess Halls across all base locations
  • 3 DM, 80 Exempt employees; 340 Frontline Union & Employees covered under Service Contract Act
  • 500+ Sub-contract employees (representing small business & socioeconomic organizations required by contract)
  • The contract is a straight P&L with Award and Incentive Fee based on our performance 

Base Locations:  The position is in the San Diego, CA area – US Marine Corps bases include:

  • Camp Pendleton – Oceanside, CA
  • Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA
  • Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, CA
  • USMC, Bridgeport, CA
  • USMC 29 Palms, Twentynine Palms, CA (San Bernardine County)
  • Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, AZ

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for leading all activities and teams for a specific activity sector or geographic area in a regional segment. Leading the business to achieve economic and commercial performance and managing talent in scope. Reports to the Regional Segment Head.
  • Lead the division team to deliver on our Quality of Life positioning and achieve a safe working environment that meets or exceeds economic and commercial performance targets
  • Work with the Regional Segment Head to develop and implement the segment strategy within the division and more widely in the region to deliver sustainable, profitable growth and value for Sodexo clients and our business
  • Manage the division Sales team for the region to ensure that the new development and cross-selling development targets are met through solutions selling and development of a robust pipeline
  • Manage and develop the division talent in collaboration with HR and segment leadership

What You Bring

  • Proven ability to manage food and labor cost within a P&L environment
  • Ability to successfully manage within a heavy regulated contractual environment
  • Must have strong strategic leadership and project management skills
  • History of developing a large management teams, critical thinking and decision making around overall talent management
  • Experience of managing a complex client portfolio with excellent client negotiation skills.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 10 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 10 years of multi-unit, support, or strategic leadership experience
