Sodexo’s Campus Dining Team at SUNY Oneonta, a highly regarded public university in the foothills of the Catskills, halfway between Albany and Binghamton. As the Food Operations Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role in a robust dining program that includes two unlimited dining facilities, a retail marketplace, Starbucks, Argo Tea, Seasons Café, a full-service bakery, and a large catering operation.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily front-of-house operations across multiple dining venues, including residential dining, catering, and a bistro.

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a large team of unionized employees, managers, student workers, and supervisors—ensuring strong performance, guest satisfaction, and service excellence.

  • Collaborate with culinary, marketing, and operations teams to enhance the dining experience through creative programming and customer engagement.

  • Maintain and grow client and customer relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and innovative solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with Sodexo and campus standards, policies, and expectations.

  • Monitor and manage budgets, financial goals, and performance metrics.

  • Support campus events and special functions by delivering exceptional catering and hospitality services.

What You Bring

  • Experience in food service operations management, preferably in a campus, hospitality, or high-volume environment.

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire teams and deliver results.

  • Passion for customer service and a commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive dining environment.

  • Proven success in financial management, operational excellence, and staff development.

  • Experience working in a unionized setting is a plus.

  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule based on campus needs, including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 3 years   

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
