Sodexo is seeking an experienced and hands-on Chef Manager to join our dynamic team at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), York Street Campus. YNHH is a prestigious 1,541-bed academic medical center—the second-largest hospital in the United States—renowned for excellence in patient care and innovation.

 

This high-profile leadership role reports directly to the Executive Chef 4 and oversees a team of approximately 20 union frontline staff. The Chef Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality patient meals while maintaining a collaborative, team-focused environment.

 

Prior healthcare food service and union management experience highly preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, train, and supervise a unionized team (1199 experience strongly preferred).

  • Oversee patient meal service for dinner service, ensuring meals meet quality, safety, and timeliness standards.

  • Manage sanitation operations, maintaining compliance with food safety, HACCP, Joint Commission, and local health regulations.

  • Provide evening oversight of food production and tray line operations.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Culinary Services, two Executive Chefs, retail Executive Chef, and Procurement Manager to ensure seamless operations across patient services, retail, and procurement.

  • Maintain a hands-on leadership style, setting the standard for excellence in quality, service, and compliance.
