Role Overview

Sodexo Senior Living is seeking a passionate and experienced Chef Manager to lead culinary operations at our newly opened gastro pub within Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant located in Ellicott City, Maryland, nearby Baltimore. This venue features a cozy 30-seat indoor dining area and a charming 20-seat outdoor patio, serving lunch and dinner to our residents and guests.

 

The Chef Manager will report to the Executive Chef and will train and mentor a staff of 10 frontline employees.  This position is hands-on and will move in and out of the kitchen.  We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable with interfacing with our residents. Typical shift will be 11am - 7pm, may vary with rotating weekend coverage. 

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily food service operations for the gastro pub, ensuring high-quality, resident-focused dining experiences
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to execute seasonal menus and elevate culinary standards
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of 10 frontline staff, fostering a positive and productive kitchen culture
  • Engage directly with residents, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere
  • Maintain hands-on involvement in both kitchen prep and front-of-house service
  • Work a typical shift of 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with rotating weekend coverage

What You Bring

  • prior food service management experience with restaurants, catering and/or retirement living dining;
  • culinary knowledge;
  • knowledge of ordering and inventory management;
  • experience supervising and training staff with exceptional human resource and supervisory skill-set;
  • strong computer skills;
  • an enthusiasm for working with a diverse set of people and are confident and warm;
  • a positive approach to tasks with a can-do attitude and impeccable attention to detail.
