Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Cylinder Inventory Specialist to support gas inventory operations at a leading life sciences facility in Rahway, New Jersey. This role is responsible for managing the tracking, distribution, and inventory of gas cylinders and dewars, ensuring a safe, accurate, and uninterrupted supply. The specialist will oversee dewar fills for liquid nitrogen freezers, manifolds, and NMR systems while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position plays a critical role in supporting daily operations across the site by monitoring inventory levels, placing orders, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring proper handling and storage of all gas products.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain accurate gas inventory levels (cylinders/dewars) and adjust seasonally in coordination with the customer
  • Place gas orders, receive deliveries, track usage, and ensure proper storage and rotation of gases, including separation of full, in-use, and empty cylinders

  • Support critical operations by maintaining consistent gas supply for NMRs, liquid nitrogen freezers, and manifold systems

  • Perform regular rounds, conduct audits, and provide inventory usage reports to ensure supply continuity across the facility

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures, including proper handling, storage, and incident reporting

  • Collaborate with finance to support accurate billing and timely payments; respond to emergencies to prevent supply disruptions

What You Bring

  • High school diploma, GED, or associate degree with equivalent experience

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail, record keeping, and documentation—especially for placing orders and monitoring cylinder balances

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures, regulations, and reports, and to respond clearly to employees and clients in English

  • Solid basic math skills, including working with fractions and decimals to perform measurements and calculations
