The General Manager 2 of Food Service provides leadership for both their management and hourly teams to drive best practice through the preparation and delivery of meals to their patients and guests. This position works closely with Hospital leadership, the community, and the other hospital departments to create strategic plans for the food service departments that align with Mission, Vision and Values of Unity Point Health.  This individual is responsible for all administrative and financial tasks required for the site as well as the development of teams with the use of our Sodexo programs and processes while working within the framework of Unity Point.  This leader will work together with Sodexo and North Memorial to execute the agreement that we have while driving staff and patient engagement, innovative dining for patients and staff and leadership both inside the department and within the hospital. 

 

The best qualified candidate is a food service professional who enjoys working alongside other healthcare leaders and the community to provide best practice in food and nutrition services that will deliver excellent patient care to those we serve. This manager will have a collaborative mindset, commitment to operational excellence standards, a willingness to coach and develop staff, openness to change and attentiveness with a responsive communication style that will encourage success in this position.  Technical skills will include high levels of proficiency with human resource activity, the development of staff, ls, the execution of our contract as well as a strong financial acumen and the ability to analyze data to leverage results for improvement using Sodexo tools and Microsoft Office products.  This individual needs to have a passion to help grow our teams through effective communication and both team and individual development.    

What You'll Do

  • have oversight of day-to-day operations;
  • successfully coordinate all required tasks through subordinate managers, supervisors and frontline staff;
  • deliver high quality food services including retail, catering and patient meal management operations; 
  • achieve company and client financial targets and goals;  
  • develop and maintain client and customer relationships (i.e., comfortable in c-suite settings where communication skills are imperative when serving as top level site management)
  • develop strategic plans; 
  • ensure HACCP, regulatory and standards compliance;
  • have daily interaction with patients, their families and clinical team to ensure patient satisfaction;
  • create a positive environment; and/or
  • ensure Sodexo standards are met.

What You Bring

  • have a work history demonstrating strong employee engagement leadership skills, as well as previous supervisory experience and the ability to work collaboratively; 
  • have culinary production experience and a strong background in safety and sanitation compliance; 
  • can manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and a passion for a high level of customer service; 
  • are enthusiastic and confident;
  • ability to drive employee success to enhance the value of the food and nutrition team; I
  • prioritize tasks and exhibit flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as needed; and/or
  • demonstrate working knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS) The Market Connection (TMC), Sodexo Menu Graphics (SMG), Catetrax and is proficient in computer skills and report management experience. This does not apply to external candidates.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years         
Minimum Functional Experience  - 2 years
