Sodexo’s Campus Segment at SUNY Delhi is hiring for a dynamic Food Service Manager 2 to join our team. You will be a key leader in our robust and diverse dining program, focused on creating an exceptional, student-focused experience through quality food, innovation, and strong community engagement.

 

You will oversee a team of approximately 40 food service workers, including union and student employees. This role is full-time, requiring a 5-day work week, with the flexibility to vary days of the week, as well as the availability to work some evening hours as needed.

 

The SUNY Delhi Dining Experience:

 

As Food Service Manager 2, you will play a critical role in managing our varied and high-volume dining operations:

  • Unlimited Dining Halls: Offering fresh, made-to-order meals in a high-volume atmosphere.
  • Vibrant Retail Marketplace: Providing flexible dining options and quick-service experiences.
  • Large-Scale Catering: Supporting campus events, conferences, and VIP functions.

What You'll Do

  • Leadership & Operations: Have oversight of day-to-day operations and provide leadership to the food services team, delegating tasks and prioritizing activities.

  • Quality & Service: Deliver high-quality food service to all venues while maintaining a focus on high-level customer service for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Team Management: Motivate, coach, mentor, and develop frontline staff to ensure a high level of employee engagement and performance.

  • Financial Performance: Achieve company and client financial targets and goals by managing labor, inventory, and operational efficiency.

  • Client Relations: Develop and maintain effective customer and client relationships to ensure satisfaction and long-term account success.

  • Compliance: Ensure all Sodexo standards and regulatory requirements, including safety and sanitation compliance, are met across the operation.

What You Bring

  • Management Experience: Proven leadership experience (minimum 1-2 years preferred) in a food service environment. Former dining experience, especially in a campus setting, is a plus.

  • Leadership & People Skills: A work history demonstrating strong employee engagement leadership skills and the ability to manage a diverse workforce (including union and student employees).

  • Operational Expertise: Culinary production experience and a strong background in safety and sanitation compliance (ServSafe certification is highly desired).

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and possess strong customer relations skills. Retail experience is a plus.

  • Technical Knowledge (Sodexo Internal Candidates): Working knowledge of Sodexo Food Management System (FMS), The Market Connection (TMC), and proficiency in computer skills and report management experience. (This is not a requirement for external candidates).
