Sodexo Campus Segment is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager 5 to lead dining operations at the University of Southern Maine (USM). This role oversees a comprehensive, multi-unit program that includes residential dining, retail outlets, catering, and conference services across USM’s campuses.

 

As the senior-most leader on-site, you will provide strategic direction, drive innovation, and foster strong partnerships with the university community while ensuring excellence in food quality, service, and safety.

 

The General Manager 5 will lead and develop a diverse team of managers and frontline employees to deliver exceptional dining programs aligned with the university’s culture and needs. You will manage all aspects of operations, from financial performance to customer satisfaction, and play a key role in enhancing student engagement, strengthening community connections, and ensuring long-term program success.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight for a large, multi-unit dining program, including residential dining, retail, catering, and conference services.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop management staff and frontline teams to achieve operational excellence.

  • Ensure high standards of food quality, safety, and service that reflect Sodexo and university values.

  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, payroll, cash control, and forecasting.

  • Partner with university leadership to enhance student satisfaction and engagement through innovative dining solutions.

  • Drive growth opportunities and implement business solutions that align with institutional goals.

  • Maintain strong customer and client relationships, ensuring alignment with the university’s mission and culture.

What You Bring

  • Proven leadership experience in managing large, complex dining or hospitality operations.

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and driving revenue growth.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop diverse teams, including union and non-union staff.

  • Excellent client relations, communication, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational management.

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
