Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 2 to join our team at Yale New Haven Hospital, a 1,541-bed facility that includes both the York Street and Saint Raphael campuses. Yale New Haven Hospital is a nationally recognized teaching hospital and the primary academic partner for the Yale School of Medicine and Yale School of Nursing.

 

At the York Street Campus, our food and nutrition team provides dining services for 1,000 patient beds through a bedside dining program and manages multiple retail operations including the New Haven Café, Starbucks, two Peet’s Coffee locations, the Atrium Café, the East Pavilion Café, and a 24-hour Micro-Market.

 

The Food Operations Manager 2 will serve as the senior leader overseeing all operations at the East Pavilion Café and Micro-Market located on the York Street Campus.
This leader will ensure a best-in-class guest experience through strong operational execution, employee engagement, and a focus on quality and service excellence.

 

The East Pavilion Café is open 7 days per week from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and offers a wide variety of options to our guests, including: 

  • Self-service salad bar
  • Deli station
  • Tex-Mex themed station
  • Global cuisine station
  • Grill and pizza station
  • Comfort favorites, grab-and-go options, and Green Mountain Coffee beverages

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily operations of the East Pavilion Café and MicroMarket.

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of 40 union employees.

  • Drive guest satisfaction and maintain high standards of food quality and safety.

  • Ensure compliance with Sodexo, hospital, and regulatory standards.

  • Partner with culinary and retail teams to enhance menu variety and service efficiency.

  • Maintain strong financial performance and control operating costs.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
