Role Overview

The Best of Both Worlds: Culinary Artistry Meets Retail Leadership.

Sodexo is seeking a tech-savvy and service-oriented Hospital Retail Culinary Manager to join our team at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton in Hazleton, PA. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead food preparation for a key retail station while overseeing the daily operations of our on-site retail location.

This is a unique "growth" role. While you will start with a focus on culinary production, the position is designed to evolve into a dedicated retail leadership role. We are looking for a candidate with strong retail roots and a culinary heart who is ready to take the next step in their management career. Hospital culinary experience a plus!

What You'll Do

  • Lead Culinary Production: Direct food preparation at a specific retail station (e.g., soups, salads, and specialties), ensuring high-quality presentation, freshness, and flavor.
  • Manage Retail Operations: Oversee one retail location, ensuring the "customer journey" is seamless, the environment is welcoming, and the service is efficient.

  • Tech & Digital Management: Take ownership of our digital presence—managing digital signage, updating menu boards, and ensuring the POS (Point of Sale) systems are running smoothly.

  • Supervise & Mentor: Provide direct leadership and support to a small team (up to 2 FTEs), fostering a culture of accountability and great service.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all food safety (HACCP) and sanitation standards are strictly followed at your station and within the retail space.

  • Operational Agility: Maintain 7a–7p availability to support the needs of the business, generally working shifts such as 9a–5p or 10a–6p.

What We Offer

Compensation is fair and equitable, partially determined by a candidate's education level or years of relevant experience. Salary offers are based on a candidate's specific criteria, like experience, skills, education, and training. Sodexo offers a comprehensive benefits package that may include:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision Care and Wellness Programs
  • 401(k) Plan with Matching Contributions
  • Paid Time Off and Company Holidays
  • Career Growth Opportunities and Tuition Reimbursement

More extensive information is provided to new employees upon hire.

What You Bring

  • Retail Expertise: Extensive experience in a retail or "front-of-house" environment is highly preferred. You understand how to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
  • Culinary Foundation: Proven experience in professional food preparation; you are comfortable leading a production station in a fast-paced environment.

  • Tech Proficiency: You are "computer literate" and tech-savvy. You are comfortable troubleshooting POS systems and managing digital content/signage.

  • Leadership Mindset: Previous management or supervisory experience—specifically in healthcare or high-volume retail—is a major plus.

  • Reliability & Flexibility: Ability to work a Monday–Friday schedule with every other weekend rotation, and the flexibility to be available during the 7a–7p window.

  • Customer-First Attitude: A passion for healthcare hospitality and the ability to connect with hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
