Sodexo School Service Division is seeking an experienced and collaborative Operations Manager to support a growing, district-wide nutrition program serving more than 11,000 students across 22 schools in The Omaha, NE Metro area. In this position you will work closely with the General Manager and will play a key leadership role in the planning, coordination, and execution of daily food service operations.
The Operations Manager ensures operational consistency, regulatory compliance, and high standards of service delivery across all sites while supporting staff development, financial stewardship, menu execution, and procurement processes. This role serves as a critical bridge between district leadership, food service managers, and kitchen operations.
Support the General Manager in the oversight of all district food service operations, including meal production, service, logistics, and site-level execution.
Ensure consistent operational practices and service standards across all schools.
Provide direct support and guidance to food service managers to ensure smooth daily operations.
Assist with operational planning related to district growth, new schools, and facility changes.
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of food service staff in collaboration with site managers.
Coach and mentor food service managers to strengthen leadership skills, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
Assist in developing staffing models, schedules, and coverage plans to meet program needs efficiently.
Promote a positive, respectful, and service-oriented workplace culture.
Ensure compliance with USDA, Nebraska Department of Education, and district policies related to school nutrition programs.
Support monitoring of meal counts, production records, and site documentation.
Assist with food safety oversight, including HACCP implementation, sanitation practices, and health inspections.
Support corrective actions and follow-up related to audits, reviews, and inspections.
Assist the General Manager with budget monitoring, cost controls, and operational efficiencies.
Support inventory management, ordering processes, and proper utilization of USDA commodities.
Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef and managers to ensure menus are executed within budget parameters.
Assist with vendor coordination, deliveries, and supply chain consistency across sites.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to support menu implementation, standardization, and recipe compliance.
Monitor meal quality, presentation, portion control, and customer satisfaction across schools.
Support initiatives to increase student participation and enhance the overall dining experience.
Serve as a key liaison between district leadership, site managers, and kitchen staff.
Communicate operational expectations clearly and consistently.
Assist with responding to site-level challenges, staffing needs, and parent or administrator concerns.
Represent Nutrition Services at meetings, trainings, and district initiatives as assigned.

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 3 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
