Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Waste Management Manager to support a life sciences client based in Rahway, NJ. This role is responsible for overseeing regulated and non-regulated waste streams across multiple onsite locations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient handling from generation through final disposal. You will manage waste flow, storage, labeling, and offsite shipment in accordance with RCRA, DOT, and company standards. As a key point of contact, you will provide guidance to waste generators and ensure adherence to regulatory and client requirements. This position also leads vendor coordination and supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance compliance and efficiency. The role requires strong attention to detail, regulatory expertise, and a customer-focused approach to support site operations.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee waste handling operations, ensuring proper labeling, segregation, storage, and compliance with all regulations
  • Receive and verify waste from generation areas, providing guidance and enforcing adherence to waste management standards
  • Manage onsite waste vendors and coordinate all waste-related activities, including inspections and service delivery
  • Prepare waste for offsite shipment, including profiles, manifests, and required regulatory documentation
  • Review and approve manifests, land disposal restriction notices, invoices, and vendor quotes
  • Conduct inspections and maintain compliance with storage requirements and regulatory standards
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Prepare reports and provide accurate, timely data to support client needs and decision-making

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience in waste management, preferably in laboratory, pilot plant, or warehouse environments
  • Working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and other applicable environmental and safety regulations
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT and RCRA certifications
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in computer systems and standard business applications
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders and vendors

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 3 years   

Minimum Functional Experience - 3 years in waste and environmental operations management or a related field.
