Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a Unit Safety Manager to support a large life sciences client in Rahway, NJ. This role is responsible for leading the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across the site. You will work closely with HSE leadership and cross-functional teams to drive a strong, zero-harm safety culture. The position ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while supporting operational excellence initiatives. This is a highly visible, fully on-site role requiring strong collaboration, auditing expertise, and proactive risk management. The ideal candidate brings both strategic insight and hands-on safety leadership in a regulated environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the deployment and execution of HSE programs, policies, and initiatives to support a zero-harm safety culture
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local regulations
  • Analyze safety data, incident trends, and root causes to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Support regulatory inspections and investigations, serving as a subject matter expert during audits and compliance reviews
  • Facilitate HSE meetings, training sessions, and employee education programs to promote safety awareness
  • Partner with site leadership to develop risk registers, monitor KPIs, and deliver HSE performance reporting

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related field preferred
  • Experience in HSE within life sciences, facilities management, or regulated environments
  • Strong auditing background with the ability to assess compliance and recommend improvements
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive risk-based decisions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting findings to stakeholders
  • Proven ability to influence, train, and support teams in building a strong safety culture

Minimum Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 5 years
