Sodexo's Campus Segment is seeking a talented Catering Manager 2 to join our team at UMass Boston, a campus entering a dynamic new era of growth, innovation, and impact. The Catering Manager 2 oversees the full scope of catering operations, ensuring flawless execution from planning through event completion. This role is highly service-driven and detail-oriented, with responsibility for event operations, staff leadership, client engagement, and vendor coordination. The ideal candidate brings both operational strength and creative vision to transform spaces and deliver memorable experiences.

What You'll Do

Event Operations

  • Oversee planning, coordination, and execution of all catered events—both on and off campus.
  • Develop event timelines, staffing plans, logistics, and service flow.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event evaluations to support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
  • Maintain accuracy of menu identifiers and allergen information.

Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise catering staff.
  • Provide direct, hands-on leadership during events to uphold high service standards.
  • Support a positive, accountable team culture focused on guest satisfaction.

Client Coordination

  • Participate in client consultations and planning meetings.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Resolve service challenges professionally, efficiently, and with a customer-first mindset.

Vendor & Inventory Management

  • Coordinate rentals, linen service, equipment needs, and specialty vendors.
  • Manage inventory levels, ordering (including alcohol), and equipment readiness.
  • Control event-related labor, supply, and rental costs to meet financial goals.
