We help patients experiencing morbid obesity lose weight. We work with patients one- on-one to determine the best options, ensuring they receive the care that is right for them. For continued support, we offer routine education classes and monthly bariatric support group meetings. Our goal is to assist patients throughout this journey while helping them develop the tools needed to live a healthier life. Patients who receive bariatric surgery through our practice will undergo a 3 month medically supervised program. Throughout the program, patients will have regular consultations with a dietitian and receive a personalized diet plan to fit their individual needs. The bariatric dietitian provides optimal nutrition care of the bariatric surgery patient across the continuum of care.  The successful candidate will:- Performs initial nutrition assessment and preoperative education as well as participates in the screening of potential candidates for bariatric surgery. - Reviews clinical and biochemical data to formulate a nutrition care plan encompassing socio-economic and psychosocial factors. - Assesses education requirements of patients and families or significant others, implement plan of action according to individual requirements.- Develops and coordinates group and individualized nutrition education curriculum and instruction material with comprehensive language and aesthetic quality.- Participates in development of clinical pathways associated with patient flow from initial nutrition visit, through follow up and completion of post-surgical course.- Collaborates with inpatient healthcare staff to maintain continuity of care. Counsels post-op patients to ensure dietary compliance, nutritional adequacy and formulation of weight management goals.- Assesses and adjusts diet regimen based on diet tolerance, weight changes, laboratory values and clinical parameters.- Oversees the development of nutrition-related education modules for bariatric patient support groups.- Evaluates nutritional products based on their patient appropriateness, safety, availability and cost.- Contributes to cost containment by careful use of supplies.- Educate healthcare team members, including physicians and nurses; dietetic students.Is this opportunity right for you?
